The best way to place an order is to email us the following info (Please do NOT give your credit card information through email):
If all the items on your list are available, we will email you an invoice via Intuit Quickbooks which includes a secure payment link. When payment is received, we will pull your order aside and schedule the shipping or pickup date. If any of the items you wish to order are unavailable, or if we happen to notice you are ordering something not suitable for your climate, we will work with you to determine suitable alternatives for your project. We are also available by phone if email does not work for you (and can take your credit or debit card info over the phone).
We are glad to discuss your bamboo inquiries and help you make an educated selection for your climate. Many of our bamboos grow best in specific regions.
Please be aware we have a small, dedicated staff who are very knowledgeable in bamboo who will help you with answering any questions you may have. Otherwise, we encourage our customers, both prospective and existing, to make use of the extensive information available on our site as a useful tool for finding your ideal type of bamboo.
For mail-order shipping, we generally ship #1 container size, #2, #5, and #10 sizes of bamboo which average 2, 3, 5, and 8 feet tall. The height is dependent on the type of bamboo you order. Container sizes equal approximately 1 gallon through 10-gallon nursery stock containers.
For larger bamboo, #15 through #45 size containers (up to 40 feet tall) please call or email to enquire about availability and shipping options. We accept payment by credit card, check, or money order, or cash if you are visiting our nursery.
We can deliver large bamboo orders with a truck / trailer combo or 24' Box Truck to locations in or near Portland, Oregon as well as other parts of Oregon, Washington, and northern California. Standard delivery rate to Portland is $125. Please contact us for rates to other areas.
Not all bamboos are available in all sizes listed at all times. Please inquire about the availability of the variety you’re interested in. We are currently growing over 300 different bamboos. Many of our more unusual species are not on this list due to limited numbers but may be available if requested. You know how it goes: you’ll never know if you don’t ask!
Landscapers, garden centers, and nurseries should please contact us for wholesale discounts and for information about shipping wholesale orders. Email us at bamboo@bamboogarden.com.
Orders shipped by standard UPS are limited to #1, #2, and #5 container size plants. For larger plants — #10 through #45 gallon — we can use freight options. For an outline of our shipping cost system please see our Shipping Rates below. If unclear, please contact us with any questions. For larger orders, we can use freight and put the plants on a pallet.
Tall bamboos, 12 to 40 feet tall: Bamboo Garden specializes in very large bamboos in 10 gallon through 100 gallon containers. Giant Black Bamboo, Timber sized Moso, Incense Bamboo, among many others.
Our pallet shipping system is a great way to get large size or high volume bamboos delivered to your curbside by a commercial freight carrier. We can easily fit bamboo from 5 to 12 feet in height onto our pallet system. We are committed to finding the lowest rate carriers that have a reliable service record. All shipments are guaranteed to arrive in healthy condition and can be easily delivered to any residential zone. We want satisfied customers! Contact us for a rate quote for your project.
Shipping for bamboo over 15 feet tall is usually restricted to commercial zones, shipped by commercial freight trucks that have temperature controlled trailers. Contact us for more info and current market rates. We can usually send you very large bamboo, if you need a tall screen or grove immediately. Residential customers will need to coordinate with the truck driver to meet at an open, commercial zone, or assure that the area for delivery can accommodate a 53 foot semi. We highly recommend working with a landscape professional to achieve this. Local deliveries in Oregon and Washington can be delivered with a smaller truck and do not require a commercial zone or 53 foot semi. Call to inquire about local delivery.
Wholesale: Landscapers, garden centers, nurseries, and others interested in large quantities, please contact us for wholesale discounts. We can email you a copy of our current wholesale price list. bamboo@bamboogarden.com
For large quantities of bamboo, save money and packaging resources. Palletizing the whole package usually allows us to select taller bamboo when shipping large volume orders of over 8x 5 gallon or 10 gallons. We can also ship 10-gallon to 20-gallon bamboo with this technique, as long as they are under 15 feet tall, or over 50x 1g or 2g stacked on the same pallet. Contact us for freight rates on 503-647-2700 or bamboo@bamboogarden.com
We spend a great deal of time selecting the best plants possible from our inventory and guarantee they arrive in healthy condition. The bamboo are well grown in plastic nursery containers. For shipping orders, the pot is wrapped in plastic and secured to a shipping box with strapping tape. They travel very well and each year we receive many compliments on our packaging system. Most of the time they arrive in great condition, although spending a long time in transit can be stressful for plants, and in some cases, they will show minor signs of stress. This is natural and nothing to be concerned about, they will perk up in a few days to a couple of weeks. If you order bamboo in the winter or very early spring, please recognize that some species naturally defoliate up to 50% of their leaves in the winter and may look a little ragged until they put on a flush of new growth — again, this is natural and nothing to worry about. If the plant deteriorates in health and perishes due to apparent stress of shipping and handling, or any other factor within our responsibility, we will either replace the plant, send a full refund, or reach a reasonable agreement. Our guarantee is valid for three months from the date the plant is received, and it does not cover plants that are grown in containers.
*We do not offer a guarantee on plants that perish due to customer neglect or factors outside our responsibility.
The most common factors being:
Bamboo Garden has exceptional customer service and a huge selection of Bamboo. My husband and I already had some Bamboo in pots for patio screening and Bamboo Garden staff was able to recommend some varieties that would compliment and thrive in the amount of sun our patio gets. We found out that the larger sized pots in some varieties are discounted if the customer picks up, so we made an appointment to do so. The drive to the North Plains location, outside of Portland, is in some beautiful country off of Highway 26, and once you are there, you are free to walk around their grounds. They provide you with a map identifying the varieties and a price list. It was really helpful to see in person what the different varieties look like. Many of the clumps are also identified by signs. Although you might be able to save a little money looking elsewhere, if you want the best selection of healthy, beautiful bamboo, this is the place!

Great selection of bamboo and a beautiful place to visit. Penelope was very knowledgeable and patient with all of our newbie questions. If you're thinking about adding bamboo to your yard, take a drive out and see all the possibilities.

Tons of information on their website and recommendations. I emailed and received a quick response and am local so they came out and provided me a quote and looked at my area. I paid over the phone. They delivered and set them in my backyard. In this case we are doing the planting, but they do offer a white glove service of coming with the dirt, planter boxes (if needed), and plant your bamboo. I contacted another local bamboo business but they were very slow to respond and didn’t seem to want to give me any options — Bamboo Garden gives EVERY budget OPTIONS! Very pleased and will recommend, and maybe come back and buy more now that I love the look and instant peace is offers. We are using our bamboo for added privacy in our backyard. Much more beautiful to look at than arborvitae.

Fabulous customer care and beautiful plants! After having a disappointing experience with another highly rated bamboo nursery, Penelope and crew helped me select the right stock and sent pictures of material before they were delivered to ensure we were all on the same page. I'm thrilled with my new bamboo screening!!

A bamboo lover's paradise with incredibly kind and knowledgable service. Woody helped us yesterday select some bamboo for a specific location by our front door. He drove us around the grounds and showed us all of the examples that would work for us- and although we were making just a small purchase for one pot, he treated us like we were landscaping a palace! It felt like an amusement park (in all of the good ways)! We absolutely love our bamboo and it is perfect for what we were trying to achieve. There's no way we would have found it without his help, suggestions and vast knowledge. I am so glad a friend recommended Bamboo Garden to me. The price was great, the health of the plants sublime, and the selection unmatched (we have looked elsewhere). It's well worth the tri.

My mother and I went for the first time today! The greatest experience we have ever had! All the staff was so friendly and very knowledgeable! We got a tour of the garden and Woody was a great tour guide! Very welcoming place and great prices on bamboo. If you haven't been, you should at least go once. We will definitely be back. Thank you all for the wonderful time!
