The second form of Jiuzhaigou, collected as a seedling from Jiuzhaigou Park in Sichuan China by M. Laferrere of France. It is very similar to Jiuzhaigou I, but has slightly larger canes and leaves with a more "open" clump habit (more space between each culm), but is not as brightly colored. The branches radiate from the culm at a 45° angle, as opposed to Jiuzhaigou I, which tends to radiate at 90°. See comparison at bottom of page. The branches are also longer. One of the most cold hardy bamboos available.
