This bamboo is similar to Sasa veitchii, but it is a little hardier, shorter growing, and has a narrower white edge. The photo was taken in late fall, when the leaves acquire the white margin. During the summer, the leaves are dark green. The leaves have a fuzzy underside, which provides some protection from insects.
