Shibataea chinensis

Max/Avg Height (ft.): 6, 4

Diameter:

Hardiness: -5° F

USDA Zones: 6-9

Very similar to the more common Shibatea kumasaca, but shorter and more tolerant of alkaline conditions. Reported in the ABS source list as growing to only 2 feet tall, but the plant at our nursery is 5 feet tall. This bamboo can be distinguished from Sh. kumasaca by its lack of pubescence on the lower surface of the leaf. The photo is of a 2 gallon kumasaca (we do not have a picture of chinensis yet).
