Thamnocalamus crassinodus 'Kew Beauty' Height: 15 feet This form of crassinodus is known for blue-grey culms that age to a brownish-red, and sometimes even a rather bright red in good light. However, they are not happy in too much sun. During a normal winter in Portland, Oregon, this bamboo is more attractive than either Fargesia nitida or Fargesia murielae. It may not be quite as hardy or as tall as the temperature quoted by the American Bamboo Society. Quite rare and beautiful.
