This bamboo is similar to Sasa veitchii, but a little hardier, shorter growing with a narrower white edge. The photo on the left was taken in late Fall, when the leaves acquire the white margin. During the summer the leaves are dark green.  The leaves have a fuzzy underside which provides some protection from insects.
