Grown in
Anhui, Zhejiang Province,
China for its delicious shoots, this bamboo has straight, strong culms that
have a heavy coating of wax at sheath fall. The new shoots are a very
attractive reddish-brown. It is one of the hardier small
Phyllostachys that grows to 20 feet in almost any climate. Similar in
size and growth habit to P.
bissetii. It is very useful for making dense, upright privacy
