Phyllostachys acuta
Max Height: 30, Avg. height: 25 The young culms have very little white wax and are a darker green than most other Phyllostachys. Culms age to an olive green with faint yellow mottling. Fresh cut culms also seem to be very heavy and contain a higher moister content than other members of this genus. New shoots have culm sheaths that are green with brown splotches and margins. Sheath auricles are absent and blades slightly wavy.
We used to call this bamboo Phyllostachys preacox,
but have determined that, due to its shooting time (mid May usually), and
other morphological features, it is actually P. acuta. We have mostly
large container sizes available #15 - #25, up to 25 feet tall.
